Excerpts

Here are just a few excerpts from the book where you will find literally hundreds of practical topics, interesting subjects, and life-changing insights.

A Hundred Failures Can Lead To Success

Successful people never look at any one particular failure as their final report card. They will tell you that the "school of failure" is quite often their best college! Failure is failure if, and only if, your perception makes it so. If you learn to embrace failure as an important part of the overall "success process," then any one failure will be viewed simply as one more necessary step that furthers you down the path to accomplishing your cherished goal!

Four Well-Known Business Laws:

Parkinson's Law -"Work will expand to take up the time available."

Pareto's Law

Sometimes referred to as the "80/20 law." The basic premise is that 80% of your results will come from just 20% of your efforts. For example, a business owner may find that 20% of all the customers account for 80% of the business. Another application of this principle is that 80% of a store's business will often be done during 20% of its hours. The important lesson to be learned is that it pays to focus your efforts in the areas that will afford you the biggest payback for your time.

The Peter Principle

"All employees tend to rise to their level of incompetence." - You will find this especially true when people are promoted too soon. They would then almost certainly be destined to fail, due to incompetence. They cannot then transfer back down, or sideways either. They are often now too "overqualified" to be transferred down, and still too "unqualified" to be transferred sideways. It's better to be on the "slow but steady" track to success, rather than rise too soon!

Murphy's Law

"Whatever can go wrong, will go wrong." - In any endeavor there will always be unforeseen circumstances, and problems waiting to arise. Because of this, you should always start a task as early as possible, and anticipate that it will take longer to complete than if everything went perfectly. Simply waiting until the last minute, and "hoping for the best," is a sure way to get into trouble. Always try to get started early, be adequately prepared, and anticipate that unforeseen problems will occur!

Music and Sound Therapy

You may have heard of a phenomenon referred to as the Mozart Effect. This is the use of some of Mozart's music in order to stimulate the mind to enhance mental capability. It is suggested that playing Mozart and certain other classical music, while reading or studying, aids in your ability to learn. Whether or not these things are true, we do know that music definitely makes us feel better, and also makes the world a much more enjoyable place! Since music can directly affect the way you feel, it seems wise to pay attention to how you might benefit from its purposeful use. After all, there's certainly nothing wrong with wanting to "put a song in your life!"

SEX

Every psychologist will tell you that you have sexual urges and instincts, and how well you handle them will largely determine whether you are "normal" or not. There are healthy ways to channel your sexual desires and energy. Successful and well-adjusted people know how to turn these basic urges into constructive activities and inspired production. In fact, most courses that teach you how to maximize your personal effectiveness spend time coaching you on how to benefit from this wonderful psychic energy.

What Does It Mean To Be Great?

People are often asked "What is your favorite sport?" or, "What is your favorite kind of music?" But, when was the last time someone asked, "What is your favorite charity?" There are certainly enough courses that teach us that we should have empathy, but if the world is our report card, very few people actually have it to any appreciable degree. The call to greatness beckons everyone, but few respond. If you would heed it, simply find a cause larger than yourself, and endeavor to lift others from despair!
